Our Musical Directors

Our conductors are highly qualified and motivated professionals, who are both experts in their field. With many years of experience, they have the expertise to provide comprehensive and first-rate direction to our orchestra.

Marco Giudici

PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR

Born in Italy, Marco, a professional Clarinettist, performed with OSN RAI (Italian National Symphony Orchestra). As a freelance musician, Marco has performed with a number of orchestras including, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Welsh Chamber Orchestra and the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company.

Since 1998 Marco has taught clarinet and saxophone in a variety of independent schools and is deputy clarinet tutor at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music.

His conducting career began in 2018, having studied at the London Conducting Academy and with renowned International conductor Eduardo Portal.

Alongside his teaching, Marco conducts the Salford Symphony Orchestra and the Ambleside and District Choral Society.

Preston Symphony Orchestra welcomes Marco as our Principal Conductor and with his friendly personality and vast musical experience we look forward to his musical direction as he works with the orchestra.

John Chapman

DEPUTY CONDUCTOR

John is a very talented musician who began his musical career at the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall), where after 3 years intensive training, studying Conducting, Harmony, Aural and Instrumentation and having to take Performance Examinations on EVERY brass, woodwind and percussion instrument, he qualified as a Bandmaster (Warrant Officer 1st Class) and was appointed to the band of the King's Own Scottish Borderers. In 2003 John was appointed Director of Music for the Royal Navy Band of Oman. He has conducted throughout the UK and Oversees, including high profile performances in the presence of His Majesty, Sultan of Oman.

Having moved to the North West in 1996, John has followed a busy schedule performing on French Horn for a number of Orchestras including  Preston Opera. John has also been a member of the British Police Symphony Orchestra for the past 15 years and currently sings with the Liverpool Philharmonic Choir.

John brings to our orchestra, not only his wealth of experience as a musician and conductor but also his skills as a composer and arranger.

Preston Symphony Orchestra welcomes John as our Deputy Conductor and French Horn player with the orchestra. We know his friendly manner and vast experience will be greatly appreciated by our musicians as we learn under his direction.

Beverley Mizon

ORCHESTRA LEADER

Having achieved a scholarship to study at Manchester University with the Lindsay String Quartet and then continuing her violin studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Lydia Mordkovich, Beverley has had a very successful career in Music Education.

Alongside her teaching career, Beverley just loves performing. She regularly performs with a number of orchestras throughout the North West. She leads the Occento Orchestra and also enjoys chamber music, having played in a number of quartets and trios over the years and is a founder member of the Camille Piano Trio.

Beverley joined Preston Symphony Orchestra at the beginning of our journey and as well as being a member of the steering committee has been invited to be our Orchestra Leader.
